Pentecost; Holy Ghost Baptism

PENTECOST
HOLY GHOST BAPTISM

There are some “key words” to examine to receive the best understanding of this great experience that was promised by our Lord; Jesus the Christ. They are as follows: Pentecost, Holy, Ghost, Baptism, Power and Fire.
Pentecost: [50th] ; fifty days counting from Passover; The day of the crucifixion of Jesus. See Luke 22:1-
Holy: The definition; S# 40 “Hagios” sacred, pure, blameless, sinless, consecrated.
Used of people, places or things that are dedicated to, or set apart for the service of God. This word is found 232 times in the NT. 98 times as HG, 8 times referring to the spirit of life and 4 times as Holy Spirit.
Spirit: S# 4151 “pneuma” 388 times, “the breath of life, spirit of God, of man, of Satan or Devil. Holy Spirit 4 times, Spirit of God 12 times. As the Holy Ghost 98 times.
After close examination we find in the KJV of the Bible The terminology “Holy Ghost” always refers to the third party of “The God Head” or the work of or the ministry of that part of God.
There is no difference between Holy Ghost and Holy Spirit; the Greek words for both are the same. The new birth, sanctification, healing the gifts of the Spirit are al1 the work of God through the Spirit of God. It is only when the third party of the “God Head” is implied that the term “Holy Ghost” is used. See 1st.Cor 12:11-13.
But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally, as he will.
It is important to digress from HG Baptism and deal with God’s complete plan of salvation of mankind.
Matt 11:13 For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.
Luke 16:16 The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.
John 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
The time of the “Giving of the Law at Mt. Sinai was @ 1491 BC and Jesus fulfilled the Law @ 30 AD when he began to preach; Mark 1:15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel”.
The Gospel was “The good news of salvation by faith in Jesus Christ the Son of the living God. See John 3: 14-18, 6: 68-69 and 10: 25-30.
Paul writing to the church Ephesus says in Eph. 3: 5-18 that we are “saved by grace” through faith in Jesus Christ.
In John 1: 29 John the Baptist speaks “Behold the Lamb of God that taketh away the “sin” of the world. [S# 266 the sin nature, body of sin, man of sin]
John 5:12-13 “He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God”.
Jesus explained the plan of Salvation to Nicodemus in John 3: 1-13. First mankind must have “a new birth”; not a natural birth but a rebirth of the “spirit or soul of mankind”. See also Rom. 8: 1-10, 12: 1-2, 1st. Cor. 2: 10-16, 6: 11, 1st. John 2: 29, 5: 1-8.
For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit; 1st. Cor. 12: 13.
The next step before being “Baptized in the Holy Ghost” is “being sanctified”; This is both an instantaneous and a continuing experience. The Greek word for Sanctified is S# 37 “hagiazoo”:to render or declare sacred or holy, to consecrate.1. To render or acknowledge to be venerable, to hallow2. to separate from things profane and dedicate to God, to consecrate
a. things 2 Tim 2:21.
b. persons. So Christ is said by undergoing death to consecrate himself to God, whose will he in that way fulfills, John 17:19;
3. to purify
a. to cleanse externally Heb 9:13; 1 Tim 4:5.
b. to purify by expiation, free from the guilt of sin: 1 Cor 6:11; Eph 5:26; Heb 10:10,14,29; 13:12; 2:11
c. to purify internally by reformation of soul: John 17:17,19
(from Thayer’s Greek Lexicon, Electronic Database. Copyright © 2000, 2003 by Biblesoft, Inc. All rights reserved.) In simple terms this means to dedicate, consecrate or to set your self apart totally for the service of God.
When this is accomplished the person is “ready to be baptized with” or filled with the Holy Ghost. This is to fulfill the promise of Jesus in John 14:15-18 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter , that he may abide with you for ever;
Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
Acts 1:8 “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth”.
Luke 24:49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.
About 120 of the disciples of Jesus were meeting in an upper room in Jerusalem. [the same place where they had celebrated Passover with Jesus prior to his crucifixion] They had been meeting there for 50 days when there came a sound from Heaven as a rushing mighty wind and filled all the house where they were sitting. Acts 2: 1- 13. This was the first outpouring of the Holy Ghost; but this experience has continued until this day
Acts 5:32 And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.
See also John 7: 39, Acts 2: 38-39, 10:34-48 and 19: 1-7.

Baptism: S# 907 “baptizo” To dip, make fully wet, submerge, and immerse, to overwhelm. There is the baptism in water for or unto remission of or repentance. This is done by an ordained minister of the Gospel; upon evidence that a person has committed himself or herself to follow Jesus.
There is also the baptism of, with or in the Holy Ghost. The work or ministry of the Father through the spirit does this. See Matt. 3:11, Mk. 1:7-8, Lk. 3:16 and John 1:33 and confirmed by the scriptures in Acts 1:5, 2:2-4, 10:44-48, 11:15-16. This to fulfill prophecy of Joel 2:28-32, Isa. 28:9-13, 44:1-3.
The prophecy of the Holy Ghost Baptism began with Joel the Prophet @ 770 BC, See ch. 2:29-33, Then with Isaiah ch.28: 9-13, @ 740-700 BC. Then by John the Baptist in Matt. 3:11, Mk. 1:7-8, Lk. 3:16-17.@ 28 AD. Next by Jesus in John 7: 37-39 and ch. 14: 26, 16:7-16 and Acts 1:4-8.@ 33 AD; and Peter in Acts ch. 2:.Also by Paul in Acts 10:and 11 @ 41 AD and in Acts 19:1-7 @ 58 AD,I want to call your attention to an often overlooked statement in Acts 2:3-4; First “cloven” tongues appeared. [cloven S# 1266 "diamerizo" divided, partitioned or separated; "tongues" S# 1100 "glassa" "a different language than one naturally acquired"; other tongues S# 2087 "heterus", a language of a different sort, or different character] After the “cloven” tongues were manifested, they began to speak in “other” tongues”. When this occurred the dispersed Jews [there were @16 different nations named in verses 9-11] who because of their dispersion could no longer speak their native Hebrew language, heard them speak in their “own” [native] language. These had come to Jerusalem to celebrate Pentecost See Acts 2:5-21. The “other” tongues represented the “Gift of Tongues” of 1st. Cor. 12:1-12.and 14:1-33. The “unknown” tongue taught here is the “cloven” tongue; or perhaps better “the witness tongue” that is spoken when a person “receives the Baptism in the Holy Ghost.
In Acts chapter # 10; after seeing a “vision” Peter goes to Caesarea; to the home of a Gentile named Cornelius who was a “devout man” that feared God. After Peter arrived there Cornelius called his kinsmen and friends to hear the Gospel; and while Peter was preaching the Holy Ghost “fell on all that heard the word”. Those that came with Peter knew they had received the Holy Ghost; because they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God. Acts 10: 45-46. The time was @ 41 A.D. over seven years after the Pentecost out-pouring.
In Acts chapter 19; Paul is at Ephesus and finds “certain disciples” of John the Baptist who also believed in Jesus that had not heard of the Holy Ghost Baptism. The time was @ 56 A.D. over 20 years after John’s ministry. After hearing the preaching of Paul they were Baptized in Jesus’ name and with the “laying on of hands” they received the Holy Ghost and spoke with tongues and prophesied. Acts 19: 1-6.
There are instructions concerning the operation of the Holy Ghost in Paul’s epistles to the churches. I will not get into that at this time, but there has been no time in church history that people have not received the Holy Ghost.
REMEMBER:
For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off,[Gentiles] even as many as the Lord our God shall call. See Acts 2:39.

It is good to hear preachers preach on this subject in church. I know many whom only preach Jesus and call everyone around the alter to stand and say the dismissal prayer. Many people don’t have time to to pray for the HGhost in church like the olden days. The congregation of today are now in a hurry and lets go home or out to eat…etc. Yes I believe in the cloven tongue that is the newly filled one talking to God. That was good in your concluson, its amasing love on Jesus’s part to have forgiven all his prior followers who forsaked and betrayed him. He really meant for them to have the HGhost the (conforter as you said he did not leave them conforterless. I have often wondered if all the people who have repented of there past sins, mess a round and dont receive the HG. Will they all deny Jesus as his piror followers did? This showed a great weekness without the HGhost. Peter never denied Jesus again after this day. I remember Peter’s first message after he received the HG. The people asked what must they do to be right. Peter said: repent, be baptised, and ye shall receive the gift of the HGhost…..so I really believe Christ meant for us to receive the HG, In fact as you said if a man will keep his commandments he (Jesus will pray to the Father for him and the Father will send him the HG< Boy! That is some positive stuff. Wow! Yes, Thanks for this Topic on Penecost; HG. it s not sought after much any more. Many people make themelves up a tongue and think they got it. They say “speak it speak it”. Not so, You don’t just ”speak it”. It takes God to do it thru you. If God don’t speak it through you , then it wasnt real. Sad, many are fooling themselves and others. Many also do get the real thing from God . If a man will be honest with himself and God he will get the goods. It can last if he wants it to. Brother you have got me sturred up.!! Glory !! until next time, Thanks for asking for the comment.

    Greetings in Jesus’ name.
I have read your comments with great interest. It is my opinion that many preachers are “looking for numbers” to post on their reports and to use for excitement to get other revivals. I watch as some will “get down and put their ear to the mouth of one praying” and report “They have got it; they are speaking in tongues”. When a person actually receives the “Baptism in the Holy Ghost” people not only will hear the language;but will see a difference in the movement of the tongue. Plus when a person is “Baptized in [with] the Holy Ghost” they will know without some one telling them; “You’ve Got it” and they will “give witness”.

I plan to write a study on the nine gifts of the Spirit soon and go into moor detail about the “Gift of Tongues”
Thanks again for the comments; I am giving an O.K. for it to be posted on my web page.
